Stuart Pearson — Founder

This work needs someone who has sat on both sides of the table, and Stuart has: impact fund management, institutional banking, and public sector investment practice. Each proposition The Impact Factory builds has to satisfy an investor's diligence and a public body's governance at the same time, and Stuart has done both jobs.

At Purpose Capital, New Zealand's largest private impact investment fund, Stuart managed investments for a fund named the country's Best Impact Investment Fund at the Mindful Money Awards in successive years. He led investments contributing positively to climate change, reducing inequality, protecting the environment and expanding affordable housing — with impact measured and validated, not asserted.

At the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority he established and managed the region's Investment Readiness Service and stood up a series of public sector-led investment vehicles and initiatives — the same machinery The Impact Factory now builds for its partners. Alongside that role he worked with the DESNZ-funded South West Net Zero Hub, working with public sector bodies, community energy groups and private sector partners to deliver renewable energy projects across the region.

Stuart serves as a Board Member of the Avon Pension Fund, a Local Government Pension Scheme fund with more than 140,000 members and over £6bn in assets, contributing to the Fund's governance and administration. His earlier career was in institutional banking, in credit analysis and development finance.

He holds a Master's degree in Management Studies (Finance) from the University of Waikato, awarded First Class Honours, with a thesis on whether impact investing can achieve genuine additionality — the question that still shapes how the firm chooses its work.

As engagements require, The Impact Factory assembles specialist partners — legal advisers for fund structuring and regulatory questions, financial modellers, and sector specialists such as ecologists for nature-market work. The core stays small on purpose: the person you meet is the person who does the work.
